Spring 10-Day Ayurvedic Cleanse

Why Cleanse?

We know that through the sheer pace of modern life, the stresses and pressures we are under, our environment and the foods we eat and drink, we accumulate toxins, or ama in our bodies and minds. In Ayurvedic philosophy it is believed that ama is the root cause of all disease. Signs of ama include poor digestion and elimination, issues with sleep, inability to focus, irritability, anxiety and weight gain. This is why in Ayurveda, cleansing is recommended annually – traditionally it is done in the autumn or spring season, or both. Ayurvedic cleansing brings you into a state of balance physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is considered a “rebirth.”

What is an Ayurvedic Cleanse?

An Ayurvedic cleanse is a gentle, but profound detoxification program for the body, mind, heart and spirit. There are many lengths of time one can cleanse, but the essential foundation is the same – a monodiet of kitchari for 1 day, 3 days, or more than 21 days. Kitchari is Ayurveda’s nourishing and delicious grain, lentil and vegetable dish. We also enjoy the Green Goddess dish.  Kitchari is simple and easy to make, and with its warmth and spice, it is the perfect food for cleansing. The Green Goddess recipe is a blend of greens (like kale and cilantro) that can be served over the kitchari.  After the kitchari cleanse, you can begin reintroducing foods that you wish to back into your diet, as well as taking herbal supplements to support your transition.

What are the Benefits of an Ayurvedic Cleanse?

Although gentle and easy to follow and commit to, an Ayurvedic cleanse has a profound effect on every aspect of our being. Transformation occurs at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Benefits include:

If you experiencing imbalances of any kind, including digestive issues, interrupted sleep, hormonal imbalances due to peri-menopause, low-energy, stress, anxiety, inability to focus, weight gain or a loss of connection to yourself, an Ayurvedic cleanse can help you reset and bring balance and harmony.  Cleansing with the guidance of Tami and Jodi throughout, as well as together with the other people in the group, provides you with the support you’ll need to move through the program easily.

What's the Time Commitment?

We will meet as a group three times during our 10-day cleanse over Zoom. Daily, you will need to prepare your meals, and we will provide you with a complete recipe book with recipes for each meal of the cleanse. There are also daily recommended self-care practices, such as self-oil massage, gentle yoga, meditation, a short walk outside, pranayama and journaling. Remember, with yoga, meditation and pranayama, the amount of time you spend doing these practices is less important than doing them consistently. In Ayurveda, consistency is the key.
You are probably already doing these self-care practices sometimes and know the difference that they make to your life. The cleanse will help you to re-commit to them and bring them into your daily routine.

What's the Timeline?

  • Wed April 20:  7:00 to 8:30 pm – Preparation meeting to go over the cleanse schedule, and details of the cleanse
  • Mon April 25: The first day of cleansing begins
  • Wed April 27:  7:05 to 8:00 pm – Our second meeting to check-in, see how you are feeling, how the cleanse is going, and answer any questions
  • Wed May 4: 7:05 to 8:00 pm – Our third meeting to celebrate the completion of the cleanse and talk about transitioning from cleansing and next steps

What if I Need to Miss a Meeting?

For your benefit and success, we highly recommend that you attend all meetings. However, if you are unable to attend, not to worry – we will send you the link to the recording. Please note, recordings must be downloaded within 3 days of receiving the link, otherwise the recording will be deleted.
